Dr. Colleen Gest is well-versed in treatment of many pelvic floor and pelvic pain conditions:
  • Dyspareunia (pelvic pain with sexual intercourse)
  • Pelvic pain (pain anywhere involving the genitals or surrounding area, including the lower abdomen, front/back, inside, outer thighs, and the low back and tailbone)
  • Urinary incontinence (with exercise, sneezing, urgency)
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Constipation
  • Pain related to endometriosis
  • Endometriosis
  • Coccydynia (tailbone pain)
  • Pelvic girdle pain (pain in any of the three joints of the pelvis)
  • Vulvodynia (pain at the vulva)
  • Penile/scrotum pain
  • Pain related to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation which may or may not be related to pregnancy)
  • Urinary dysfunction and constipation in children
  • Vulvar stenosis (often related to cancer treatments)

I also treat people during and after their pregnancies (even well after a pregnancy!)

  • Pelvic pain during or after pregnancy
  • Urinary or fecal incontinence during or after pregnancy
  • Prolapse associated with pregnancy
  • Low back, upper back and other body aches and pains related to pregnancy
  • Returning to physical activity after pregnancy

I have some experience with and am working to improve my ability to treat:

  • Pelvic pain and rehabilitation related to gender-affirming surgeries
  • Pediatric pelvic floor conditions (bedwetting, urinary incontinence, constipation dysfunction)

Keep in mind that while symptoms can significantly and completely resolve for many of these issues above, often issues do not resolve with pelvic PT alone. For example, endometriosis is currently thought to only be successfully treated with laparoscopic surgery to remove endometrial lining adhesions. That being said, there are many treatments that a pelvic floor physical therapist can provide to significantly decrease symptoms associated with endometriosis.
